Glazed ceramic tureen with lid, decorated with a marbled effect on a reddish, beige and green background, with two lion heads in place of the side handles.

The tureen, in Grottagliese dialect "suppiera" , is a large ceramic container used to serve dishes such as broth or legume soup on the table and keep them warm.

This artifact was modeled and personalized according to the taste of the client families, for this reason there are many variations that differ in the form and in the decorative technique used.

The tureen is traditionally glazed with a "marbled" effect, i.e. marbled or splashed, using natural colors and glazes. This ancient decorative effect is characterized by the reddish ground color due to the engobing with the bole and with ramina and is enlivened by white and green spots. In the past, it was used to give a luxury look to poor objects made with clays and natural earths.

PRODUCT CARE

All tableware products are suitable for food use.

We recommend hand washing. The product does not require any particular maintenance interventions.

For cleaning, the use of water and neutral detergents is recommended.

This operation can be carried out with a damp cloth, then rinse and dry with a dry cloth.

Avoid thermal shocks which could cause lesions in the ceramic.

The frequent and prolonged use of enamelled objects could cause the loss of enamel in the parts most exposed to shocks, this is a physiological effect that does not alter their quality and functionality.
